Zcash holders will begin voting on August 25 to decide the scope of the NU7 protocol upgrade, with the process running for roughly 18 days. The minimum participation threshold is set at 1 million ZEC, ensuring meaningful community input.

The vote follows delays caused by the Orchard counterfeiting bug and the prioritization of Ironwood and NU6.3 work. Governance is structured around a dedicated privacy-preserving blockchain developed by Valar Group and Project Tachyon.

Eligible voters must hold spendable shielded funds in Ironwood from 19:00 UTC on August 24. The voting window closes September 12 at the same time. This marks a decisive moment for the network's governance and technical direction.
